Common questions

Is the Schengen calculator really free?

Yes, forever. The full 90/180 calculation for one traveler, the trip log, days remaining, the longest stay allowed if you enter today, the forward "when do my days free up" projection, and CSV export are all free, with no paywall on the core count. RoamWise Pro adds extra zones and rules (UK, US substantial-presence, generic 183-day tax residency, custom windows), the forward trip planner, multiple passports, and lock-screen widgets. The free tier is not a trial.

How is the 90/180 rule calculated?

On any given day, RoamWise looks back over the previous 180 days and counts the days you were present in the Schengen area. The day you enter and the day you leave each count as a full day, and overlapping trips never double-count a day. This is the same rule the European Commission official short-stay calculator uses, and RoamWise links straight to it so you can cross-check.

Why is there no automatic location tracking?

Because it is unreliable and invasive. Apps that track GPS or scan photos miss days, drain your battery, and ask for your location history for a compliance decision. RoamWise is manual-entry-first by design: a border stamp is the real record, and entering a trip takes a few seconds.

Is this legal advice?

No. RoamWise is a planning aid. Day counts are estimates based on the trips you enter, immigration rules vary and change, and you are responsible for verifying your own compliance with official sources before you travel. When in doubt, cross-check with the EU official calculator and the relevant authority.

How do I get my data out?

Settings > Export trips to CSV, free, always. The export opens in any spreadsheet.

How do I cancel or restore a subscription?

All billing goes through your App Store account, never through us: iOS Settings > your name > Subscriptions shows and cancels everything. In the app, Settings > Restore purchases re-activates Pro on a new device.

Where is my data stored?

On your device and in your personal iCloud. There is no RoamWise server, no account, and no analytics. See the privacy policy.
